Just before Nigeria’s independence, there was a flourishing of literature, which became characterised as Onitsha/Igbo Market Literature.
Igbo writers created short plays, stories, novellas and sold them to publishers who printed them in inexpensive books that were then sold in markets across Igbo Land.
